YANO – Let The Games Begin

A piece for Yano about competition between Parents over the achievements of their children, and the pressure it causes.

A piece I wrote for Yano.co.uk about the perverse but apparantly common phenomenon of ‘parental rivalry’. The basic idea is that people use their children’s achievements as a means for comparison in a strange clandestine game that takes place in schools, social clubs, nurseries and playdates the world over…

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes for an interesting exploration. The conclusion of sorts is that people should just be less hard on themselves, and by extension their kids.
